A
tutorial on scalable machine learning
Santanu Chaudhury, Dept. of Electrical Engg., I.I.T, Delhi
To-day we encounter Big data in various areas. Machine learning is an important tool for big data analytics. High volume, high velocity, variety and veracity of data bring challenges to current machine learning techniques. In the tutorial we shall discuss(1) how to scale up existing machine learning techniques for modeling and analyzing big data from various domains (data reduction techniques, large scale matrix approximation, learning on big multimodal data, learning in large graphs);
(2) how to design new machine learning algorithms for various parallel/distributed machine learning platforms (such as Hadoop and Spark)
